Germany’s Zeaborn Group struck a deal to take over the operations of Rickmers-Linie, marking the next step in a consolidation drive in the multipurpose ship (MPP) sector.
The Ove Meyer and Jan Hendrik Tobbe-led shipowner and operator said it is taking over all the compatriot rival’s offices, employees, key subsidiaries and its chartered vessels.
The deal, which create a combined fleet of 50 ships, will also see Bertram Rickmers take a private minority stake in the businesses sold by Rickmers-Linie.
