The separate unit focusing on the panamax sector was set up in 2012 and Oslo-based K2 was acquired in March 2014 to consolidate the segment.
“During this time, WB Chartering has not been successful in creating the expected synergies between supramax and panamax,” the shipowner said.
“Because of this, and considering the present environment and expectations, a strategic decision has been made to focus only on the segments where we through our scale, history and relationships have been able to extract value over time.”
