Star Bulk Carriers is looking at renewable energy on board its vessels in a deal with Japan's Eco Marine Power (EMP).
The two signed a memorandum of understanding for a joint study project focused on how solar batteries and other devices can be installed on existing and new ships.
The study will look at the amount of power that can be provided via renewable energy along selected routes and for specific ship types.
