EFE has chartered the 52,200-dwt Star Cosmo (built 2005) on a three to five month contract, brokers say.
A rate of $8,200 per day has been placed on the deal, a fraction above the improving spot rate of $7,900 per day.
The Star Cosmo is one of around 30 Star Bulk vessels operating on short term contracts.
Star Bulk has a fleet of 70 bulkers worth over $1bn in the water and a further 26 newbuildings worth further $970m, according to VesselsValue.com.
