US-listed Star Bulk Carriers has sold its oldest vessel, leaving its entire 71-ship fleet without any ships built before 2000.
Chinese buyers have secured the 72,500-dwt Star Vanessa (built 1999) for $7.8m, TradeWinds is told. The deal follows a well-established trend of Far Eastern buyers picking up aged Greek tonnage, possibly for use in domestic coastal trades.
Athens-based Star Bulk has been divesting older vessels for quite some time now.
