The commodities trader told the Nasdaq-listed shipowner thatit was forced to halt production at the salt mine near Cleveland, Ohio due to ageological shift in the underground formation.
The mine is located around 1,800 feet (550 metres) below LakeErie.
Cargill expects the mine to be up and running again byNovember but Rand said the closure would hit volumes it carries for the trader byas much as 43% during the remainder of the season.
