Panamax freight rates hit the best level in three years as Atlantic basin ship supply tightens on coal demand.
The Baltic Exchange assessed average panamax rates at $13,740 per day, up 34% for the fourth quarter. The Atlantic Basin has been responsible for most of the gain with the trans-Atlantic route hitting $17,790 per day, almost double the level at the start of October.
