According to the Baltic Exchange, the 169,000-dwt Navios Antares(built 2010) will earn $21,250 daily for up to 13 months in a fixture with Solebay Shipping of Hong Kong.
This is slightly higher than the $20,000 average that one leading European shipbroker says units of a similar size and age are seeing in the period market.
Yesterday, day rates for capesize bulkers trading in the spot market had fallen to approximately $9,000, which amounts to a weekly decrease of nearly 35% and daily drop of 10%.
