According to US sale-and-purchase specialist Compass Maritime Services the 194,000-dwt Father S (built 1985) is one of only about half a dozen bulkers that have been torched thus far this year.
The deal was first reported by TradeWinds last week.
Assuming reports from Compass and other reputable brokerages are accurate the seller walked away with more than $11.7m after offloading the vessel for $461 per ldt.
