A US judge refused to stand in the way of an auction of a NewLead Holdings bulker scheduled to take place next week as part of a dispute between the Greek shipowner and financiers.
The decision by US District Judge Randal Hall even strengthens the seizure of the 35,400-dwt bulker Newlead Castellano (built 2013). The ship was snared in the federal court in Savannah, Georgia, as part of a May lawsuit by four financial firms led by Ray Capital over promissory notes issued by Michael Zolotas-led NewLead.
