Chinese electricity generator Datang Power is planning to significantly expand its shipping fleet to stabilise freight costs and become more self sufficient.
The Hong Kong and London listed company which operates more than 50 generating stations in China already owns two panamax bulk carriers and has two 76,000-dwt and four 45,000-dwt newbuildings on order from the Jiangnan Changxing and Chengxi shipyards respectively
