The ITF union is helping the crew of a research ship allegedly abandoned by its charterer Defend Europe, a right-wing activist group which used the vessel to try to prevent the rescue of migrants in the Mediterranean.
The union says the 160-dwt C Star (built 1975) has been left in Barcelona since 26 September with eight men on board. It claims they have not been paid.
