Australian authorities are investigating an Indian bulker carrying alumina for Rio Tinto along the country’s coast over unpaid wages.
The 32,081-dwt Maratha Paramount (built 2011) has already received two deficiency notices from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) for failing to pay the wages of its 22 Indian seamen for two months.
AMSA has also found that the vessel did not have clean facilities, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
