A Greek bulker with an all-Filipino crew has been hijacked by pirates off the coast of Somalia on Monday, TradeWinds has learned.



The 52,000-dwt Eagle (built 1985) was snatched around 700 miles east of the Horn of Africa, on informed source said. Counter-piracy force EU NAVFOR later confirmed the hijacking but said it occured in the Gulf of Aden.

There are 24 Filipinos onboard the Cyprus-flagged handymax but none are understood to have been injured, a spokesperson at Piraeus-based owner and operator Perosea, who confirmed the seizure, said.
