FreeSeas chief executive Ion Varouxakis has denied reports of a sale of a handysize bulker.
Greek shipbrokers had reported that the over-the-counter-listed shipowner had sold the 24,000-dwt Free Maverick (built 1998).
The sale price for the Mitsubishi-built ship was estimated at $1.6m, according to a weekly report by Optima Shipbrokers.
But Seasure Shipbroking's VesselsValue.com puts the value of the ship at $2.39m.
"We haven't sold the ship," Varouxakis said.
