Brokers say the 82,000-dwtIron Kalypso, Iron Brooke and Iron Bill (all built 2006) were fixed for six to nine months each at a rate of $8,250 per day.

Kalypso has been identified as the charterer of the ship that shares the same name while the other two are believed to have gone to Glencore.

When the trio made TradeWinds headlines earlier this year they were tied to contracts in which each were earning between $11,250 and $11,500 daily.

Today, brokers say panamaxes are seeing day rate averages of around $7,400 in the spot market and approximately $7,850 when hired on period deals.

While the observations suggest the Greek bulker owner’s freshly minted fixtures are above average a leading Wall Street equity analyst tells TradeWinds that the levels still appear to be at or below breakeven.
