India’s Essar Shipping is reportedly in the process of buying four second-hand panamaxes for its operations at Hazira.
The estimated cost of the 75,000-dwt ships is INR 2bn ($29.68m), according to sources close to the matter cited by the Financial Express daily.
The owner wants to meet growing iron ore requirements at the port. Supplies are moved from Paradip and Vizag on the east coast.
