Dubai-based bulker and tanker owner Emarat Maritime has sold a 14-year-old, Japanese-built supramax as prices for such vessels continue to hold ground.

Broking sources in the US said the Oshima Shipbuilding-constructed, 55,000-dwt Dubai Energy (built 2004) had gone to an undisclosed buyer for $11m.

The deal comes amid reports that Hong Kong's Interocean Shipping has sold the slightly younger sistership, the Sea Confidence (built 2005), for just $10m.
