Diana Shipping and Navios Maritime Holdings have locked away three bulkers on time charters of at least a year in length.
Charterer Koch Shipping has chartered New York-listed Diana's 179,000-dwt PS Palios (built 2013) for $10,550 per day, minus a 5% broker commission. The contract will last 12 to 16 months.
The rate essentially locks in the ship's earnings at current spot rate, as the Baltic Exchange's weighted time-charter average stands at $10,300 per day today.
