Greek shipowner Chronos Shipping waived inspections before it purchased a Japanese-controlled kamsarmax bulker, TradeWinds has been told.

European broking sources said the company bought the Universal Shipbuilding-constructed, 80,000-dwt bulker Key Spring (built 2012) for $22.5m.

The price suggests bulker values are edging higher even if freight rates are under some pressure. Two weeks ago, an identical sistership — the Azalea Sky (built 2012) — was sold to compatriot Eastern Mediterranean Maritime for $22.2m.
