China’s coal imports took a drop in October due to the country’s latest efforts to regulate overseas material. A stricter policy on coal imports is already hitting rates for bulkers, according to market sources.
Simpson Spence Young says the country’s coal imports fell to a three-month low of 21.3 million tonnes in October. The September figure was pegged at 27 million tonnes.
