Swiss trader and charterer Cargill is supporting "aggressive" greenhouse gas reduction targets for shipping.
It wants to help fully decarbonise the industry by 2050 and is encouraging member states and delegates at the IMO's Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) to reach an agreement which can "make sustainable shipping a reality," it said.
"We also encourage committee members to ensure fair competition in shipping commerce within its roadmap," it added.
