Capesize vessels are the most in-demand for charterers thanks to flexibility, but also most limited in supply with less than a dozen available berths between now and 2020.
That message was delivered by chief executives at the leading New York-listed dry bulk owners during a webinar organised by investor relations firm Capital Link.
Seanergy Maritime chief executive Stamatis Tsantanis told attendees that even if one owner wanted to corner capesize newbuildings, there would be at most 10 available berths at shipyards through the first half of 2020.
