The crew of a Hong Kong bulker have been rescued after their ship sank off Vietnam.

The 26 Chinese men were brought ashore by the 6,492-teu NYK Aquarius (built 2003) on Thursday, following the loss of the 34,000-dwt Jianmao 9 (built 1976) near Danang on 9 November.

The boxship was heading from Senkou in China to Ba Ria-Vung Tao.

Vietnamese reports said arrangements would be made to return the men to China as soon as possible.
