It is so rare to see a bulk carrier scrapped nowadays that it helps to have a damaged ship first.
A fire irreparably damaged the 56,600-dwt Cheshire (built 2012) last August. The vessel, which was sent to a breaking yard in Turkey, was the only bulker scrapped during April that Maritime Strategies International (MSI) dry bulk analyst Will Tooth could recall.
