There are conflicting reports on whether or not a Cypriot-owned capesize bulker came under pirate attack in the Red Sea on Monday night.
The incident involving the 114,900-dwt Orient Crusader (built 2010) could yet raise fears that pirates have moved to the more sheltered area to escape monsoon conditions in the Indian Ocean.
The Cyprus-flagged ship, which is owned by Interorient Navigation, is known to have come under fire from people in one skiff in the southern Red Sea near to midnight local time on Monday.
