GiuseppeBottiglieri di Navigazione pleaded guilty to failure to maintain an accurateoil record book on the 93,300-dwt bulker Bottiglieri Challenger (built 2010)and cut a deal that involves a $1m fine and a $300,000 payout to the NationalFish and Wildlife Foundation.
Thesettlement came ahead of a trial in Mobile, Alabama relating to the US CoastGuard’s discovery of a “magic pipe” used to dump oily waste overboard when theyinspected the vessel in January this year.
