Shipping association Bimco has likened the US-China trade war to a speeding train, but views its effect on volumes as limited.
It described the tariffs spat as "accelerating with every trade-restrictive retaliatory measure imposed and becoming ever more difficult to stop."
And it added that "the long-term effect provides uncertainty and could possibly derail current global growth if the measures are kept or further escalated."
