Algoship Designers and an upstart Connecticut shipowner have secured classification society acceptance of an LNG-fuelled bulker design concept.
American Bureau of Shipping said it has granted approval in principal for the Seatransport-DF, a 38,000-dwt ship concept developed by the Bahamas design house with would-be shipowner CleanShips.
The dual-fuel vessel will have 2,400-cbm Type-C or membrane containment systems for LNG fuel and will accommodate multiple engine types.
