Greek owner Diamantis Dimantidis is upping the stakes in the VLCC market, buying a further two units after re-entering that segment last summer.
Owning sources in Athens say Diamantidis’s tanker arm Delta Tankers has signed agreements to buy the Jinhai-built, 319,900-dwt Tianjin (built 2015) and the 319,700-dwt GC Fuzhou (built 2014).
No price details were available but London-based brokers report the firm has paid a firm $114m en bloc for the two vessels, which are currently owned by GC Tankers of Singapore, a unit of China's HNA Group.
