Danish owner DFDS is closing a Scotland to Belgium freight route due to "performance issues."
The company said it has been deploying one ro-ro between Rosyth and Zeebrugge for three weekly round trips.
And it added: "The financial performance of the route...has struggled to meet expectations.
"Freight volumes are, in general, increasingly being focused on large hubs offering a high frequency of departures deploying larger ferries.
