Taiwanese shipbuilders enjoyed a record-breaking year with production passing TWD 50bn ($1.6bn) for the first time, the Ministry of Economic Affairs says.
And the good times should continue this year with the ministry boasting that 2008 figures will top TWD 60bn.
Production value increased 21% in 2007 according to figures compiled by the Industry Development Bureau under the guidance of the ministry.
