Container handling operations in Durban were today running at about 60% capacity said officials, following the start of a three-day strike by South African workers protesting the restructuring of port operator Transnet.
Transnet played down the strike initially saying most facilities were running normally, but admitted the container terminal at Durban, its largest port, was operating at ‘less than optimal efficiency’.
