Star Cruises of Malaysia has announced an 82% fall in pretax profit for the first nine months of the year, due largely to the disastrous outbreak of the Sars virus at the start of the year.
Net income (under Hong Kong GAAP) slumped to $14.5m from $78.6m last year. The company blamed continuing security alerts, acts of terrorism, the war in Iraq, as well as Sars, for the profits slide.
