Tasmania’s shipping industry should come together for talks on how to bail out the troubled 23,700-gt ferry Spirit of Tasmania III (built 1995), according to tourism minister Ken Bacon.
Bacon has held talks with his New South Wales (NSW) counterpart on how to boost passenger numbers on state-owned TT-Line's failing ferry service from Devonport to Sydney.
He said a further meeting of the state's shipping industry stakeholders, including the freight carriers, should be held to canvas ideas.
