A stowaway on a Caribbean containership has drowned after jumping from the ship off Miami after being reportedly shackled by the crew when he was discovered.
The man jumped from the Antigua and Barbuda-flag Hybur Trader (built 1969), listed by the Equasis website as 1,414-gt landing craft which trades between the Caribbean islands of Turks and Caicos and Miami. Police divers from Palm Beach found the body in 70 ft of water on Sunday after being alerted by the ship’s crew.
