Odfjell, the controversial Norwegian chemical tanker operator, has cleared itself of any wrongdoing in the blast on the NCC Mekka which has now claimed its second victim.
The Bergen-based company said an inquiry had been held on the ship on Wednesday while the ship was at anchor off Rio de Janeiro. The explosion occurred a week ago when the Norwegian-registered, 37,200-dwt chemical tanker (built 1995) was off the coast of Brazil.
