BG Group’s 71,500-cbm LNG carrier Methane Arctic (built 1969) has been struck by lightening during a stopover in the Spanish port of Barcelona.

The strike, which occurred in the early hours of 14 September, is said to have caused a “small fire” aboard the Singapore-flagged ship.

Reports say the fire was brought under control and eventually extinguished within an hour.
