Jurong Port of Singapore has seen its container throughput doubling this year as the box boom continues to lift both carriers and terminals.
The port, better known for handling bulk and conventional cargoes, inaugurated its container terminal in July 2001. Last month it handled 50,000 teu, more than double the 23,000 teu in same month last year. For the first five months of this year it reported throughput of 230,000, again more than double last year’s figure.
