Environmental group Greenpeace is not to be kicked out of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) after all in a move likely to shock and anger many in the industry.
The IMO Council meeting on Friday decided to recommend to the IMO Assembly meeting this week and next the environmental organisation should be allowed to retain its consultative status.
The Council had decided in July to recommend that Greenpeace should be expelled after receiving numerous complaints from member states over the group's tactics during protests.
