Aker Philadelphia Shipyard (APS) has announced an increase in 2007 profit after splitting from its shipowning arm Aker American Shipping (AAS) last November.



The US company, which listed in Oslo after being sold by AAS, said net earnings were $3.9m last year, up from $1.1m in 2006.

Revenues grew to $264.1m, against $246.8m over the same period.



APS is building nine products tankers for AAS.
