A cruiseship converted into a floating campus is limping towards Midway Island with 990 people on board after being hit by a 50ft wave which smashed bridge windows, damaged controls and put three out of its four engines out of action.
The Bahamas-flag, 24,318-gt Explorer (built 2001), formerly Olympia Explorer, was hit by the freak wave on Wednesday as it sailed from Vancouver for Busan in South Korea.
