The European Commission has warned Finland it could take the country to the European Court of Justice over its fairway and ice class dues.
The Commission said Finnish legislation on fairway dues and ice class charges fails to comply with EU rules on the freedom to provide maritime transport services. The Finnish laws, the Commission said, discriminated against international shipping in favour of ships in the cabotage trade.
