A Danish shipping company is facing the threat of prosecution following the detention of one of its ships last month.

Hermann C Boye of Marstal could be the first victim of a new crackdown by Danish authorities alarmed at the decline of Denmark in world port-state control rankings.

The company's 1,525-dwt general cargo vessel, Anne Boye (built 1985) was detained in the British port of Shoreham on December 17.
