A ship’s cook has died after a Greek general cargo vessel hit a reef and sank off the coast of Greece near Athens.
The Greek-flag, 1,650-dwt Avantis III (built 1977) was en route from the port of Mesolonghi via the Corinth Canal to Cyprus with a cargo of ceramic roof tiles and building materials when it hit the reef near the island of Aegina this morning.
