German shipowners have firmed up six more containership orders worth a total of $240m at shipyards under the Aker Ostsee yard grouping.

In a statement Tuesday the Wismar and Rostock Warnemunde-based yards said German owner Thien & Heyenga has inked in an order for four containerships in a contract worth around $165m.

The ships are due for delivery in the third and fourth quarters of 2006.
