A second cofferdam has been successfully fitted to the damaged U-Ming bulk carrier Cape Africa after the collapse of the first in heavy swells last week.
With the salvage stage of the operation now seemingly over, salvors are awaiting the arrival on the scene in False Bay of the Liberian-flag, 81,659-dwt lightering vessel Bandar (built 1982). The Klaveness-managed vessel had earlier been expected on 20 June, but the South African joint response committee now says it is due on 24 or 25 June
