Work starved shipyards are said to be showing “strong interest” in building two new rail-capable ferries for New Zealand ferry company Interislander.
KiwiRail announced earlier this year that it was looking to replace three elderly vessels with two newbuildings by 2024.
It recently issued a formal request for information (RFI) to procure new ships that meet the requirements of the concept design.
