The world’s first fully electric and zero-emission fast ferry, classed as a high-speed craft, has been delivered to its home port of Stavanger ahead of entering service from late summer 2022.
The 30-metre long Medstraum will be able to carry up to 150 passengers between Stavanger, and Hommersak for Norwegian operator Kolumbus at a cruising speed of 23 knots.
The vessel, built at Norwegian shipyard Fjellstrand, has two 550 kW electric engines and a battery capacity of 1,524 kWh.
