Fincantieri saw a fall in earnings have after paying for litigation related to asbestos claims and a hefty tax bill.
The Italian shipbuilder posted €12m in net profit for the year's first half versus €15m during the same period last year.
Adjusted net profit came in at €34m, down from $39m.
The company paid $18m to settle lawsuits filed by employees who had filed claims for asbestos-related damages during the six-month period.
